Douglas and Pauline Baume plan to spend their summers in France.

Last year in April 2006 Douglas and Pauline decided that they would buy a second home abroad. Both loved France and had spent many a happy holiday there. Now both retired, with time to enjoy life they decided there was nothing to stop them spending more time in France and they started searching for a holiday home.

They looked at a number of options but finally settled on a mobile home on a park in South West France in the beautiful Gironde region. There were a number of reasons why they decided to buy a mobile home - “The mobile home represented great value for money and was within our budget. We also liked the fact that there was no work to do on the home - it was brand new and there would be little if any maintenance to do on it”

The couple enjoy their time in France and share their summers with friends and family who are frequent visitors to their home. Since buying their mobile home in 2006 the couple have landscaped the garden and added a full length  sun deck to their home. Pauline says “We love our deck it is the ideal spot to relax and enjoy the weather. We spend a lot of our summer outside and the deck is the ideal place to eat and entertain our friends.”

The Baumes love Le Paradis – Douglas says  “It’s a well run quite, friendly park within walking distance of the local village and shops” Le Paradis is a very popular and charming park set around a lake. Just a ten minute river side walk to the local village and one hours drive to Bordeaux. The park has a swimming lake/beach and café/bar.

The whole process of buying and owning a mobile or park home is relatively hassle free – all transactions are done within the UK in sterling, there is no difficult legal paperwork and the homes are designed and built within the UK to British taste. Douglas and Pauline’s dream of owning a second home abroad has on balance worked out very well for the couple and they plan in the future to spend more and more time at their second home in France.
